1. Câu điều kiện loại 1 và cách đảo ngữ

Câu điều kiện loại 1 là loại câu điều kiện đơn giản nhất và được sử dụng thường xuyên trong tiếng anh. Nó dùng để miêu tả các kết quả của một sự việc/ tình huống có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc trong tương lai.

Ta có cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 1 là:

Vd: If you finish your homework, you will have time to watch TV. (Nếu bạn hoàn thành bài tập về nhà thì bạn sẽ có thời gian xem TV.)

Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng phép đảo ngữ trong loại câu này?

Khi chúng ta muốn diễn đạt câu điều kiện loại một với sắc thái trang trọng và lịch sự hơn hoặc dùng để ra yêu cầu hoặc nhờ vả.

Ta có:

Ví dụ:

• If you finish your homework, you will have time to watch TV.

→ Should you finish your homework, you may/ will have time to watch TV.

2. Câu điều kiện loại 2 và cách đảo ngữ

Câu điều kiện loại 2 được sử dụng để tả một kết quả của một sự việc không có thật hoặc một giả thuyết trái ngược với thực tế ở hiện tại.

Ta có cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 2 là:

Lưu ý: Ở câu điều kiện loại 2 chúng ta dùng “were” cho tất cả đại từ nhân sinh (I,You, We They, He, She, It).

Ví dụ: 

• If I were a billionaire, I would buy 10 iPhones. (Nếu tôi là triệu phú tôi sẽ mua 10 chiếc điện thoại iPhones.)

Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng phép đảo ngữ trong loại câu này?

Khi chúng ta muốn sử dụng để nêu lên các giả thuyết mang nét nhẹ nhàng hơn. Loại câu đảo ngữ này sẽ phù hợp khi bạn cho người khác lời khuyên vì nó làm giảm bớt tính áp đặt.

Ta có:

Ví dụ:

• If I were a billionaire, I would buy 10 iPhones.

→ Were I a billionaire, I would buy 10 iPhones.

• Nếu trong mệnh đề If không có tobe thì chúng ta sẽ sử dụng to V sau Were trong câu đảo ngữ. Cụ thể:
• If you went to England right now, you might meet Taylor Swift. ( Nếu bạn đến Anh Quốc lúc này bạn có thể gặp Taylor Swift.)

→ Were you to go to England right now, you might meet Taylor Swift.

3. Câu điều kiện loại 3 và cách đảo ngữ

Câu điều kiện loại 3 được sử dụng để miêu tả một sự việc không có thật ở quá khứ hoặc 1 giả thiết trái ngược với thực tế trong quá khứ.

Ta có cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 3 là:

Ví dụ: If I have known Johnny was in danger, I would have helped him. (Nếu tôi biết Johnny đang gặp nguy hiểm thì tôi sẽ cứu anh ấy.)

Khi nào chúng ta sử dụng phép đảo ngữ trong loại câu này?

Khi chúng ta muốn nhấn mạnh giả thuyết.

Ta có:

Ví dụ: 

• If I had known Johnny was in danger, I would have helped him.

→ Had I known Johnny was in danger, I would have helped him.
